Woodside Vines Wonderland

Embark on a journey of discovery in the heart of the Santa Cruz Mountains, where Maison Areion awaits as a hidden gem in the hills. Immerse yourself in the beauty of the vineyard with an informative walk, unraveling the secrets of local farming practices. Wander through the corridors of the underground boutique cellar, each step accompanied by the delightful sip of your very own barrel sample.

The vineyard is perched at 1,400 ft. elevation, planted in 1987 with a mix of mostly Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, grown with sustainable and organic farming practices. This enchanting destination invites you to revel in a truly unique and behind-the-scenes experience. Your host Nicolas Vonderheyden will share his passion in every step of the process, from farming to winemaking.

Nicolas grew up on his family’s vineyards of Château Monbrison in Margaux, in the Bordeaux region. From a young age he was fascinated with the family business, helping out after school during harvest season. He says that he always knew he would become a vigneron. He went on to earn a Master’s degree in Wine Estate Management from the University of Bordeaux, and after years of traveling and working around the world, Nicolas settled in the Santa Cruz Mountains in Woodside.

The finale of this uplifting visit will be a pique-nique champêtre surrounded by the melodious hum of nature.
